Bound app screen freeze forces Google login and new account

The Bound app will sometimes freeze the screen, forcing users to log in with Google since it is the first option and therefore the only one available. If they had previously logged in using a different option (eg. Apple ID or email), then a new account is created. This is not clear from the app.
Once they are logged in, their information is gone (since it is a new account), and there is no easy way to link this new account to the previous one. Users are forced to re-load everything in order to allow students to participate.
There seems to be no easy way to merge those families later.
