Request Transportation Feature

It would be good to have a feature where someone could request transportation for an event that doesn't necessarily need to be on the calendar. Let's say the SPED director is going to an out of town meeting and needs a vehicle. They could request it and have it tracked in the transportation area.

Yes! We are currently having to add all uses of vehicles (field trips and other things) as non-competition events in order to assign a vehicle and driver, just so we can keep track of all our transportation scheduling in one place. It's adding more things to our event/facility calendar that really don't need to be there, but we have to do it in order to accurately keep track of transportation scheduling/details. We are also finding it challenging to figure out the best way to run transportation reports for these kind of things (e.g., we would like to run a report to show only the elementary school's trips, so they can see at a glance if their transportation has been scheduled yet).

Melissa Campbell I don't know if this is a thing but are you able to shut off the public view portion on your event? So if it's something like a meeting can you put it on the calendar and then make the event to where only you can see it? I am trying to find solutions as we have an old google doc for our transportation.

Tessa Stewart, yes, we do toggle off the public view switch for any trip that doesn't need to show up on the public calendar, so that's not a problem. There is just currently no way to schedule these kinds of vehicle uses without adding the trip as a non-competition event (since there is not a separate transportation calendar), so all of these trips are then added to our event calendar. (Not a huge deal in the grand scheme of things, it just adds another "event" to our already very full event calendar.)
We currently use tags to help with report filtering since there is a tag filter option in the reports area, but are considering adding some more specific tags to help us run reports more accurately. (E.g., we currently add an "elementary events" tag to an elementary field trip, but we might add an "elementary field trip" tag to our list of tags, which would allow us to run a report that will only display those trips, rather than all elementary events.)
